In 2012, the year of the dragon, The Grand Chinese New Year Concert presents a unique piece of orchestral music, the Chinese Traditional Orchestra of Inner Mongolia, which will premiere Mongolian music in a large-format production on stages throughout Europe and in Oman.

The Chinese Traditional Orchestra of Inner Mongolia is an authentic orchestra, which has dedicated itself to the musical traditions of an ethnic minority in China, the Mongolian people. Founded in 1949, as a part of the Man-Han Theatre, the Chinese Traditional Orchestra of Inner Mongolia sees itself as a promoter of this expressive and colorful musical style. The use of traditional musical instruments and song forms such as the horse-head-violin, the long-song and throat-singing, illustrate the impressive variety and expressiveness of Mongolian music.
